When a turbulent storm raises an island from the sea, Dew, a lost traveller searching for her missing people, finds herself stranded near the idyllic village of Rosecloud. In this new and changed world she meets Demi, the sole human living in Rosecloud, who has pledged to defend her friends against a deadly horror that stalks the streets at night.

With the island threatening to sink beneath the waves again, Dew has little time to convince Demi to overcome her deep mistrust of humanity, a fear that has since hardened with its mysterious disappearance.
