Hello and welcome to my site! I’m Nick, a fantasy illustrator and indie author based in Harrogate in the north of the UK.

Although I have dabbled in various styles, including a period of abstract painting, my illustrative work as you see it now primarily began to develop in 2018 while editing my first book, The Deepest Shore. Telling tales in this world and showing the variety of places and people in it became my passion. I am known for painting scenes full of life and optimism where each detail contributes to the story I want to tell. Tiny stories and interactions between people fascinate me, and this forms the basis for the majority of my compositions. I mainly work using gouache paint, but I have increasingly been exploring digital mediums also.

When I am not painting, I devour books of all kinds, am a keen gamer, and play a variety of musical instruments.

I published my first book, The Deepest Shore, in late 2019, with its follow-up The Hearts Beyond Our Roots soon after in 2021. My third, The Colours of the Sun, was released in 2024.
